    The Sulcata tortoise is a transitional eco-region of semi-arid grasslands, scrub, and savannah in northern Africa, native to the Sahara Desert and the Sahel. See them in The African Journey at the Maryland Zoo.
    Sulcata Tortoise for Sale, Sulcata tortoises are large survivors, sluggish, and tough. Adults average 18 inches in shell length and 70 to 100 pounds in weight, although it is not rare to have specimens exceeding two to three feet in length and upwards of 150 pounds.
